Happy To Meet You.
As-salamu alaykum, peace be upon you, and welcome.
Whether you arrived here because of a book, a piece of art, curiosity, or a complete accident… I’m happy our paths crossed.
My name is Jill Patzka Ochoa. I write under the names Jill Patzka (Dark Side) and Jill Ochoa (Light Side) because life has taught me that both often exist simultaneously. I create stories and art somewhere between light and dark.
Creating has always been how I survive the noise of the world.
I am drawn to the fragile parts of being human: the quiet pain people carry, the beauty hidden within broken things, the search for peace after hardship, and the strange way light still manages to exist beside darkness. My work tends to live in those spaces—between healing and hurt, hope and grief, questions and faith.
I write novels, poetry, short stories, and children’s books. I paint, create crochet art, make coloring books, and occasionally pick up a guitar. Before focusing on my own work, I spent years ghostwriting and blogging for others. Helping tell stories came naturally. Learning to tell my own has been harder.
More than anything, I hope what I create makes people feel something.
To pause.
To reflect.
To heal.
To remember pieces of themselves they thought were gone.
This space was created for the dreamers, the wounded, the curious, the creative, and the people still searching for beauty in difficult places.
For those learning to carry both light and darkness with grace.
Welcome,
Jill
